So this evening I was sitting at home relaxing after a hard day at the office. I got an email saying that Louise had requested me to be her friend on Facebook. I thought, “Who’s Louise?”. I clicked on her link and recognised her as a girl that works in the shop opposite mine.

Then in her friends list I see a name I recognise, I click it and bang, there’s a picture of Jo with her new boyfriend. It really stabbed me. I think it’s because I wasn’t expecting it and Facebook lulled me in with it’s neutral colour scheme.

I forget how small the world is and that I haven’t moved in the last twenty three years so there’s a good chance that people I have known will come to know people I meet later. There is a lesson to be learned here however do not click on the names of previous partners in Facebook.
