It’s the little things
I went to buy a coffee this morning and as I walked in the lady behind the counter was struggling to put out a basket of crisps, as she couldn’t quite reach over the counter to the shelf. I walked over and took the basket from her and set it down on the shelf. She smiled and said thank you. I ordered my coffee and when I went to pay for it asked if I could have a staff discount and pointed to the Apple logo on my shirt. She said “No, you can have it for half price for helping me”.
I thought that was really nice of her and it put me in a really good mood. During the day I went out of my way to help a customer, well beyond the service we normally offer, and after two hours I fixed his problems and he and his wife were very grateful. When I left work I was positively beaming. It’s nice how one kind action and some gratitude can change your entire day.
