The Joys of Car Insurance
Last year I paid nearly £1200 for my car insurance, I put this down to being 21 and it being my first insurance in my own name. I got a letter from my insurance company, MoreThan, asking if I wanted to renew my policy with them, stating the same quote. I used confused.com and got a quote from Endsleigh of around £950 so I rang my More Than to see how much they could reduce my quote by. They said the most they could take off was £50, which meant they were still over £100 more than Endsleigh. I told the lady at MoreThan that I wasn’t prepared to pay that much and she said she could put me through to Hastings Direct who were guaranteed to find a cheaper quote than MoreThan.
I don’t fully understand why she did that, my best guess is there’s some sort of referral commission but regardless she put me through and Hastings Direct came up with a quote of £833, then they knocked some money off of that because I signed up to the policy straight away so finally it was just over £800. I’m impressed, the guy on the phone at Hastings Direct was helpful, friendly and polite and I saved over £300 on my car insurance. I definitely recommend them.
