Busy Week
As planned I went to see Team America on Wednesday with Tone and Steve. It was very good and very wrong. On Thursday I went to The Rat & Parrot with Chris from work, it’s a cool place. I will definitely be going back there, the music and atmosphere were top-notch.
On Friday I drove up to Reading to see my brother. Friday evening Paul, Ben & I went on a pub crawl around Reading taking in Great Expectations, The Slug & Lettuce, Pavlov’s Dog and ending up in the Purple Turtle where we joined by Erin. Then on Saturday, after drinking White Russian’s in tribute to The Dude, we went to a party that Paul’s friend Keith had heard about on the web. None of us knew anyone at this party and I was slightly nervous about turning up at a complete strangers house but we went anyway. After initial nervousness we retired to the kitchen to get some drinks.
At this point a young man appeared from the living room looking questioningly at me. After my bewilderment passed I recognised him as Paul who I used to work with at Sainsbury’s. It was completely random. I can’t get my head around how bizarre it was. I haven’t seen him in about two years and then, out of the blue, while visiting my Brother about eighty miles away, on the whim of a friend of his who I’d previously not met, I end up going to a party with people we didn’t know and there he was. I had to take a picture of us as I was unsure I would remember or believe it in the morning. Odder still is that while talking to him it came out that he’s going to Slimelight the week after next so we swapped numbers with the hope of meeting up again. It was the most surreal night of my life so far.
