Graduation
This should be the last ever post in this category.
Today was my Graduation Ceremony which was held at Wembley Conference Centre. The event was, from my point of view, pretty dull. As we were sat alphabetically in our respective pathway groups I didn’t know anyone around me. The proceedings were made more entertaining by one student yawning exaggeratedly during the Vice Chancellor’s speech, whilst his face was on the large screen at the back of the stage, much to the audiences amusement. Another student opted out of the traditional bow to the various faculty big wigs and instead gave them two fingers.
During the previously mentioned speech, I couldn’t help but wonder what establishment the Vice Chancellor was talking about. It sounded like a really good university where staff go the extra mile and all their facilities are top notch. I wish I’d gone there, I’d have settled for all of my lecturers turning up prepared and on time to every lecture, failing that turning up would have been a good start for some of them and a lecture theatre that worked properly would have been nice to. Ah well, c’est la vie. I bid you farewell TVU. Good Luck.

I still remember completing Golden Sun on my GBA - I was in a lecture at the time waiting for the tech guy to sort out the projector so that we could watch yet another scene from the Matrix. Still I left with a good degree but I wonder - do I thank TVU or should I thank the Wachowski’s?
Oh yeah, Ian - weren’t those sarnies at the reception a bit dull and where was the beer?

TVU, educational establishment or evil moneymaking machine?
I am writing to you as I am a TVU student and I was wondering how the hell you stomached staying at such a place for a whole three years.
I am a second year student in the media department and I am convinced that there is some kind of strange force which makes the students continue their education there even after realising that it is indeed a shit hole. The other day, a lecturer left a window open on the first floor, the next day all of the computer mice were found stolen, with one remaining all the staff fought over it, for, get this, two weeks until replacements were ordered through the insurance which apparently didn’t even cover such a small loss.
I feel out of place and alone in my negative views of TVU. Maybe it’s because every other person cannot speak English and cannot understand my anti-TVU babbles? Which brings me to my point, in my media class two thirds of the students speak little or no English and those who can, lets just say, are a little slow. What can the university be possibly getting out of such a ridiculous set-up? Their dropout rate is high; their track record for educational standards in the press is more than embarrassing. And with so many international students bringing in the top dollar you would think us fellow students would see some of these riches being used to better the institution (or at least to clean the toilets annually). Then whilst driving myself crazy thinking of all of this, reality smacks me in the face and I find myself still here!
Please tell me I am not alone in my views, down with TVU.

Emm, you are definately not alone. Most of our year group felt the same way as you. Feel free to read through the Uni Life archive ( http://www.third-perspective.co.uk/archives/cat_uni_life.html ) for the full story of my time at TVU.
Out of curiosity what are you studying and how did you find this site?
