Not a great start to the day

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to explain the circumstances leading up to my alleged offence. This was the second time I had ever driven into Central London and the first time I had done so alone. I had taken a wrong turning earlier which lead me to be on Farringdon Street. I was trying to get to Holborn Circus and had been planning to turn off up Stoncutter Street to get there.

As I approached the junction I slowed to take the left hand turn, upon seeing the “No left turn” sign I was a little panicked as I did not know another way of getting to the office. In my fluster I carried on going and just as I had crossed the junction I realized that the lights were red, by which point there was nothing I could do.

I know that I shouldn’t have driven through the lights and I am very sorry for doing it but as I said by the time I’d done it, it was too late to do anything about it. I am normally a very safe driver and until now I have had a clean license.

I know that this does not excuse the offence but I just wanted to let you know of the circumstances surrounding it.

Yours Sincerely,
Ian Wright

    Hello increased insurance premium?

(Also, what of prospective employers that might come here and find this the post first?)

  2. Ian Says:

It’s up to £1000 and 3 points and yes we all know what points make and it ain’t prizes.

(What prospective employers, lol. Besides this is my personal site I’m not going to edit it for that.)

No chance of gettin away with it man, I tried with the congestion charge when I took the wrong route and that isn’t even really an offence…

They told you what the fine etc will be? It’ll most likely be £60 ish and 3 points so I wouldn’t worry too much about it anyway…

    Keep smilin…

  4. Rob Says:

They always say “up to £blahblah” but they bullshit…

Yeah, I was misreading it. It said if you fail to return the form to them you can receive up to £1000 fine and three points. For the actual offense the penalty is three points and a £60 fine. Still. bad enough. :-( Although my insurance company have told me it won’t put my insurance up which I’m thankful for.
