I went up to Kensington on Saturday to set up my work for e-merge ‘04. I felt a bit let down by the whole thing really. I’d been looking forward to my degree show but it all seemed a bit of a farce in the end. To be fair I hadn’t managed to make any of the meetings about it as they had all been on days I wasn’t at Uni and it was a lot of time and expense to go in for and hour or so. So somewhere along the line I hadn’t found out what we were allowed/expected to do.

While setting up the show we had to carry partitioning boards, monitors, computers and other such goodies about. Eventually we got to set up our work, I did mine and Eddie’s as he couldn’t make it. Then I made a break for it and escaped. I arrived the next day a little early to stick up my Bio [PDF] and put a sheet over the table I’d been given to display my work on.

It turned out the sheet had already been put on which was good, however Eddie’s work had disappeared, not good. I tried to investigate but the lady I asked said she didn’t know and I should ask someone else. The person she told me to ask wasn’t there and it later transpired that she was out looking for a monitor cable for Eddie’s work which the other lady must have known. So it was a bit like that for the rest of the day. Eventually my Dad and brother arrived and I got Eddies work sorted out. My family looked around and then we left. I won’t be going back.

Apologies to anyone who goes/went and missed me but I think I might have been driven mad if I’d stayed there for three days.
