How - not - to fix a PC

I received the Wireless network card for my PC from eBay today. I plugged it in and hey presto everything worked… yeah right! What actually happened was Windows realised I’d put in a new network card and asked for drivers - which I gave it, then it asked for the Win98 CD - which I gave it, then it decided to restart. When it reloaded everything was okay. I installed the Wireless Utilities that came with the card and then rebooted the machine. This time the screen was 640×480 in 16 colours, MS DOS Compatibility Mode, I thought maybe this was not a good sign. Then I started faffing about with settings to try and make the machine work properly but to no avail. I downloaded the latest version of the drivers form QTec’s site but it still wouldn’t work properly. Finally I rang tech support (Rob), he suggested I try removing the Wireless Utilities and see if it fixed it, I did and it didn’t. It was about that time I remembered my favourite DOS command, it’s one that I’ve only used a few times “deltree windows”. So that’s what I did, I ran the command and then I waited, and waited, and waited. It’s been seven hours and I’m still waiting. Hmm…

I *particularly* like your use of the undocumented command ‘cdz’… ;-)

Typo. It could’ve been worse. ;-)
