I love you Apple, I do..
I was looking through
target="_blank">eBay as I do now and then to see how cheap
second hand gadgets are. I was looking at
href="http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/" target="_blank">iPod’s and
they seem to have held their value pretty well, even
href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3043602484&category=41002"
target="_blank">broken ones (it brings a tear to the eye that
one!). I think perhaps that it is mainly due to them being made by Apple.
Most people I’ve spoken to about the laptop I’m saving for ask me
why it’s so expensive and I always find myself giving the same answer, “Because
it’s a Mac”. Obviously everyone keeps seeing all these adverts in the paper for
£600-£999 laptops and then they see me working in a job I don’t like
just to earn the money to pay nearly twice that for a lower spec
href="http://www.apple.com/powerbook/index12.html" target="_blank">Apple
laptop . It doesn’t make sense to them. These people have never used
a mac. I love my iMac, when I got it just over two years ago I had no idea how
to use it. Since then I’ve switched to
href="http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/" target="_blank">OSX ,
installed more RAM and an
target="_blank">AirPort card, written applescript to automate
mundane tasks, and used it nearly everyday. It’s a pleasure to
use.
I can’t remember the last time I seriously crashed my machine,
to the extent I had to restart it. I’ve never had any viruses. External
hardware works first time when you plug it in. I can open nearly any graphics
file in “preview” without waiting for Photoshop to load. When I put in an SD
card in my card reader
target="_blank">iPhoto opens automatically then all I do is
click import and all the images are added to my library. The library is stored
on an external hard disk which iPhoto didn’t support but a quick
href="http://www.google.com/" target="_blank">google search
(from within
target="_blank">Safari ) found
href="http://www.scruffyware.com/products/iPhotoLibrarian.html"
target="_blank">iPhoto Librarian which fixed this.
href="http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/" target="_blank">iTunes
is set so that when I put an audio CD in, it finds the track names and rips
straight to my external HD automatically.
I’m sure that all or some
of this stuff is possible on a PC but it’s just so bloody easy on a mac. I
would never use a PC through choice again except to use
href="http://www.discreet.com/products/3dsmax/" target="_blank">3D Studio
Max (although once I get around to teaching myself
href="http://www.maxon.net/index_e.html" target="_blank">Cinema
4D I’ll probably stop doing that too).
In case you
hadn’t guessed, I love macs.
