Look Mum, no wires…
Yesterday my (belated) birthday present arrived from my brother,
href="http://www.linksys.com/Products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=415">a
wireless router , so I went to John Lewis to purchase an airport card
for my mac. Today was spent setting up the network, which should have been easy,
except for there being no instructions with the airport card and as My iMac is
second hand I don’t have the manual that the packaging refers you to.
Still it looked easy enough so I put the card in the adapter, then
stuck the ensemble in and hey presto my mac has wi-fi. Although it didn’t,
unfortunately it wouldn’t connect to the router (diagonally opposite my room
through a floor). This was because I hadn’t connected the airport car to the
internal aerial in my iMac. Now, to me, it isn’t obvious that you have to pull a
cable out of a plastic sheath and then attach that cable to the actual airport
card. But we did it and now it all works so I can access the PC downstairs from
the comfort of my room. Now it’s just a two/three month wait for Broadband…
